Happy New Year!
We are in the New Year of 2019, yet another year to experience and rejoice.
As usual, a holiday was declared (on January 1) and therefore, I started planning for the New Year’s eve. I started to ponder, whether to take my family outdoors in the cold. Should I take them to the Dubai Mall and watch the fireworks at the Burj Khalifa, which was reinstated again after a year’s gap, or do I take them to a Dhow Cruise instead.
Many such extravagant thoughts criss-crossed my mind and I was left stranded at the junction of my thoughts, leading me to nowhere. However, nothing of that sort happened and in the end, we decided to spend the night indoors eating the New Year cake. A quite approach to the New Year is also a good start, and what a better way to be with your family.
However, most of the New Year’s eve was spent watching my favorite band, Oasis’s documentary Supersonic. You know how it is like, watching the making of your band?
I had been bonkers searching the nook and corner of the Web for it (as it was only a download version). Once, I went to a Virgin Store and inquired about its availability, where, I made friends with a Pilipino Sales guy (who was of my age exact), and who like me was an Alternative rock fan (and more importantly, he was an Oasis fan).
In that short discussion, we shared many views, about meeting a rare like-minded person, the pain in losing the genre, the old bands of 90s and the new millennium (2000s), about how beautiful and meaningful the songs were of that age, and of course, how worthless the present trend in music is. In the end, he even wished me that my search for the documentary be a success.
And that was to happen, as one day, my brother sent me a message saying the documentary was available on Netflix. He even shared his credentials with me to save time. We grew up listening to this band and there still lies in us that innocence (and arrogance included) while talking about this band, which was branded the band of the generation. I think they really deserved that credit.
Perhaps, this was the best thing that ever happened to me the last year.
But, we are in the New Year now and what does this New Year mean to you?
In a serious vein, we are ageing, but, in many ways (or in a much logical tone?) it’s an opportunity to start something new.
New Year is a beginning of fresh thoughts and ideas. It’s an opportunity to put your ideas in place, plan it and execute it without losing the focus. It’s a catalyst to expand your exciting imagination, and to achieve what you have been planning to implement for some time now, and for some reason you have been in your coop with little less vigor.
So, we have a new year, in another words, the mind considers it as a fresh starting point for a new beginning, and therefore, it rejuvenates the weary cells that had cost your vigor.
We call it a resolution, isn’t it? An invigorated solution to end the monotonic way of our living.
I’ve had my resolutions before, which became less important as the days passed by. In some cases, we forget it the very next day as we wake up, and with passing days it might become an arduous task even to just remember what we had planned and promised to execute.
So, is it that difficult to have a resolution? Little guess, that we tend to lose our focus more easily on these things.
The provoking nature of our worldly experiences tend to drag us away from our will to succeed in life. But it is best to remember that these experiences are a mere pretention leading to flattery, because, they do not have the spine to perform anything noteworthy in your life.
I have seen many, who had eventually succeeded in their resolutions because they had that burning desire or will power in them, to succeed. Just remember, your success is the reflection of your achievements, and to reach there, it is important to have a focus. Isn’t that a reason to believe in?
So, this New Year, I reckon many will have their resolutions up their sleeves. It is important to make your days count, as that alone will enhance your ability to succeed.
I know it is a long journey ahead, but, let us make our days count and rejoice every moment of it.
Wishing the very best to succeed in your resolution and a Happy New Year!
