The Year That Went By

By

I started this year calling Stephen King as ‘My Father’. Not that, I had a tussle with my biological father. I’d never do that. It’s only that I wanted to spend some time writing, and the King was probably the only best source of encouragement at that.

The result –

  • I wrote 16 articles. The maximum in a calendar year.
  • I published an anthology.
  • Scribed more than the halfway mark of my third book.
  • Importantly – One of my articles got published in ‘The Story Mirror’ magazine.

Quite an achievement, isn’t it? – (maybe it burns my chin grinning)

So, does it mean, I have to call the King as my father, yet again?

Maybe yes.

Because – I learnt the right way to write, and therefore, did not fret about not writing.

I also learnt an important lesson – Success is ONLY for those who come out of their comfort zones.

I learnt this lesson slowly.

In fact, I realized this after more than 50 attempts at knocking on several online publisher’s door, and, something did open up. The flash fiction – ‘Lift 3’ was such a dream, and I was able to write close to what the King writes, and maybe it clicked (I would be happy if people would like to call me a poor man’s Stephen King).

‘Lift 3’ was published in January this year, and it paved the way to knock on more doors. It encouraged me to write more stories and even experiment with non-fiction.

I have put the link to ‘Lift 3’ below.

So, what’s in store the next year.

It’s going to be bigger.

What I will educate myself from 2025, are as follows:

  • Write 20 articles.
  • Complete and publish my third book.
  • Compete in at least two competitions, and hope that I win a prize (Hope I’am not pipe dreaming here).
  • Start the fourth book.

Well, I guess that’s all for 2024, and I hope that my writing starts with a good fortune in 2025.

To all my readers,

Have a Happy and Safe Year Ahead!

Cheers!
